Pairings
Hi Christine
They’re great! I like the first one of the Canning Street (the two things relating to water) and the second of the Laurens Street (street numbers and entrances). Well done! I’ll try some over the weekend down here.

Christine, here are the pairs we did today. I’ve burnt a backup disc of all the material, let’s see how we go working on each other’s files. I really like the third Errol Street pair you did. I’ve also put a pdf of them all together on the disc so you can see them all together. Jane
The first doubles…
Hi Jane
Working title is great. Had sucess with Laurens Street but quite a grungy look so have images to show you. I have found taking pics is helping me to refine exactly what I am interested in photographing.
One aspect is in exploring the juxtaposition of manmade vs nature. Nature that can survive even in the most industrial/inner city places… Not necessarily attractive but I can work on that.
Have been playing with square format. I am still interested in film only in the quality of prints (but maybe that is being a bit too “particular”?)
4pm Thursday fine with me. Are you comfortable in visiting Dryburgh Street?
See you tomorrow.
Christine
Hi Jane
Thought I would send you an email to try and roughly scope out what we discussed today regarding our exhibition proposal.
North Melbourne Perspective
We both live, work, shop and socialise in North Melbourne. Both photographers, our paths cross, we frequent the same places, we go to different places, we both have family and friends that live nearby. We would see our “small” district with distinctly differing views. We avoid leaving our space if possible and maybe don’t leave for days on end. North Melbourne whilst only a small area geographically has lots of interest ie old/new, old/young. We could “map” out say 5 locations that are significant to us in some way.
Our work could create a dialogue where we photograph together and interpret our work differently? Perhaps incorporate eachother in an abstract way in images ie blur people, cars… Look at film - maybe the mamiya square format.
Jane is interested in text, texture, signs and perhaps a fisheye distortion.
Christine is interested in shapes, planes, detail, fragmention/distortion, abstraction in an urban environment. Positive/Negative space. panoramas/pinhole.
We talked about creating big square prints? Will depend on the work…
Looking forward to our next meeting next Thursday afternoon. We can talk about possible locations and bring along some preliminary images to discuss.
Great to be working together again! Please feel free to respond to me your own intepretation on what is outlined here.
Christine
